Mettet (Belgium) 6 October 2024 – An amazing season came to its finale in Mettet with the GP of Belgium. After winning the World Championship yesterday, today Marc-Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing TM Moto) took the GP victory. Lukas Hollbacher (KTM) reached second place and Thomas Chareyre (SGR Grau Racing) was third. In the Rookie Cup the victory went to Eddy Fench (KTM) who qualified in front of Gabin Pernat (TM Moto) and Julen Avila Cortes (KTM Mtr Racing).
S1GP SuperFinal
Before the start of the SuperFinal, the organizers paid tribute to Thomas Chareyre who took part in the final race of his career. After 22 years of racing, 8 World Titles and 12 Trophies of Nations, the French rider decided to conclude his prestigious career with the second place achieved in the World Championship. At the start of the race Chareyre took control of the operations but his leadership only lasted for a couple of laps. Marc-Reiner Schmidt took the lead followed by Lukas Hollbacher and the two started a thrilling battle. Hollbacher was the first to enter the Joker Lane and was overtaken by Chareyre, however the Austrian rider prevailed over the French but in the third-to-last he lap slipped in the off-road section and left second spot to Chareyre. Marc-Reiner Schmidt entered the Joker Lane in the penultimate lap, but his position did not change and won the race and GP. Schmidt stood triumphant on the podium and celebrated the GP victory raising to the sky the prestigious World Champion Trophy for the fourth time in a row.
In the Rookie Cup German Eddy French took another victory, in front of new Champion Julen Avila Cortes and Gabin Pernat.
