MARC-REINER SCHMIDT STAR OF THE FIRST RACE OF THE SEASON

Albaida – 29 March – After missing the pole position by just two thousandths of a second, Marc Reiner Schmidt (Team 11) won Race1 with a solid margin in front of Lukas Hollbacher (Schruf Racing) and Julen Avila Cortes (KTM MTR).

Time practice & Superpole S1GP

The day started with the first qualifying session featuring the new formula: Q1, Q2 and Superpole. The initial selection was made at the end of Q1. Only the best nine riders took part in Q2 to be among the best three to reach the Superpole.

The best time of Q1 was set by Marc Reiner Schmidt (Team 11), chased by Lukas Hollbacher (Schruf Racing) and it was clear from the beginning that the two riders would have fought for the pole position. Third place went to home rider Ferran Cardus (Honda), very fast since the free practices.

The top nine riders made it to Q2 and, in his final attempt, Lukas Hollbacher prevailed over Shmidt and set the best time. Julen Avila Cortes (KTM Mtr) reached third place and joined the Superpole.

The last act was thrilling, Schmidt set an unbeatable time. Hollbacher made a mistake in the first sector and it seemed he had no chance to come home with the pole position, but thanks to an amazing result in the second sector the rider prevailed over his rival thanks to two thousandths of a second.
