LUKAS HOLLBACHER WINNER OF TWO RACE MARC-REINER SCHMIDT WORLD CHAMPION FOR THE FOURTH TIME

Mettet  (Belgium) 5 October 2024 – Unstoppable Lukas Hollbacher (KTM) won the first two races of the GP of Belgium, but with two second places Marc-Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing TM Moto) was crowned World Champion for the fourth time and with one race to go. In the Rookie Cup Eddy French (KTM) won Race One and Julen Avila Cortes (KTM Mtr Racing) the Fast Race.

Race One

As the red lights blinked off Lukas Hollbacher (KTM Mtr Racing) made no mistakes and took the lead in the first corner. In the first part of the race, thanks to a thrilling rhythm, the Austrian rider opened a gap over his chasers. Marc-Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing TM Moto) stretched away from the fourth spot of the starting grid and was second at the end of the first lap. The German rider managed his race aware that his main rival was in fourth place. Thanks to this result Schmidt was one step away from the victory of the title. Third place went to an excellent Steve Bonnal (Team 11), Thomas Chareyre (SGR Grau Racing) could not find the right rhythm to stay with the front riders and had to feel happy with fourth place. After a tough start Elia Sammartin (Gazza Racing) struggled to overtake rivals and when he made it to fifth place the others were already far. In the Rookies Cup, great performance for Eddy Frech (KTM) who finished in front of Ari Mestres Pla (Honda) and Julen Avila Cortes (KTM Mtr Racing). After this race, Avila was a few points away from taking the victory of the Rookies Cup.
