METTET THE LAST DANCE

Mettet (Belgium) 2 October 2024 – Just like last year, Mettet will be backstage of the final event of the FIM SuperMoto World Champinship. The Belgian city circuit, famous for having been hosting one of the historical Supermoto events, in 2024 will host the 37th edition of the Superbikers and the World Championship will be the most awaited event of the three days of sport. Like in the past editions, the crowd will fill the standings and will enjoy a thrilling show.

The game for the Title of the SuperMoto World Championship is not over yet. Marc-Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing TM Moto) and Thomas Chareyre (SGR Grau Racing) will be battling it out even though the German rider has a 48-point advantage, but 81 points still have to be awarded. Both riders will fight till the checkered flag of the Super Final and obviously Marc-Reiner Schmidt will be able to manage his advantage well but, in a city circuit, nothing is granted and there will be a great show.

Behind the two riders the other challengers will try to take the bronze medal. The battle will be among Elia Sammartin (Gazza Racing), Steve Bonnal (Team 11) and Julen Avila Cortes (KTM Mtr Racing). Sammartin, currently in third place in the standings, and Spanish Cortes have a 48-point gap and the two will play their game in the three motos, just like for the first position.

The game is still on also in the Rookies Cup. Julen Avila Cortes is the current standings leader despite having missed two races compared to Tim Slazai (Team 11) who follows his rival with a 21-point gap. None of them will have to make mistakes in order to come home with the prestigious Trophy.

Last round also for SuperMoto European Championship, Junior class. At the SM Junior race in Romania, Andrea Benvenuti (KTM Mtr Racing) was the victim of a crash and gave the green light to his rivals to climb the standings. The victory went to Yevsevii Kovalov (Husqvarna), winner of the GP of Romania and current standings leader, followed by Nathan Terraneo (KTM). Benvenuti will have to recover 3 points and after 22 days far from the track, with his doctors’ approval, will take part in the final race despite not being in a perfect physical shape. The rider will do his best to come home with the title considering the supremacy shown in the past races.
