UNSTOPPABLE MARC-REINER SCHMIDT

Cerghid 7 September – It was a perfect day for the German Champion Marc Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing TM Moto), who ruled the scene from the free practices. The Transylvania Ring track, a very fast circuit with a highly technical off-road section, hosted the triumph of the rider managed by Ivan Lazzarini who finished in front of Thomas Chareyre (SGR Grau Racing) and Elia Sammartin (Gazza Racing) with a solid margin on both.

Time practice & Superpole S1GP

Multiple-time World Champion Marc Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing TM Moto) enjoyed riding at the Transylvania Ring. From the first free practices the German rider set astonishing times, opening solid gaps over rivals. Marc Reiner Schmidt made the difference in the off-road section in the second sector and was followed by the Honda duo Thomas Chareyre (SGR Grau Racing) and Elia Sammartin (Gazza Racing), who tried to minimize the gap. Steve Bonnal (Team 11) reached another solid performance thanks to the fourth place and for the first time of the season Belgian Romain Kaivers (Team 11) entered in the Superpole thanks to the fifth place. Another surprise of the day was sixth qualified, Jonas Nedved (Honda) who rounded off the top six of best riders who battled it out for the Superpole.

Marc Reiner Schmidt made a small mistake in the fast lap in the off-road section but had no problems with taking the pole position. The other positions remained the same and there was no major change in the starting grid.

The best rider of the Rookie class was French Gabin Pernat (TM Moto). 15 days after the collarbone surgery, Julen Avila Cortes (KTM Mtr Racing) got back to track and despite the pain he managed to qualify with the eighth place.

At the start of Race One Thomas Chareyre (SGR Grau Racing) took the lead of the operations thanks to a thrilling start and tricked pole man Marc Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing TM Moto). The lead of the French only lasted for one lap, in fact the determined German rider overtook his rival at the end of the main straight and opened a solid gap. Thomas Chareyre could not keep the rhythm of the race leader and thanks to his experience decided to manage the second position well till the checkered flag. The top two riders saw a hard-fought battle for third place between Elia Sammartin (Gazza Racing) and Steve Bonnal (Team 11). It seemed like the young French rider could have attacked the Italian but did not find the right opening.

The Rookie class saw the thrilling performance of Julen Avila Cortes (KTM Mtr Racing) who took the finish line exhausted because of the pain to his shoulder, injured at the GP of Germany. The rider did not spare himself and worked his way up, eventually qualifying with fifth place overall and was also the first rider to qualify in the Rookie class, followed by Tim Slazai (TM Moto) and Gabin Pernat (TM Moto).
