St.Wendel (Germany), 14 August 2024 – The Supermoto World Championship will not stop in August and the weekend of 17 to 18 August will be in Germany, at the city circuit of Sankt Wendel. The discipline will go back to its origins, among people, and the German round will also take place at the same time of the national Championship attracting a large crowd who will fill the natural grandstands along the track.
After all the twists that featured the GP of Poland, where the winner was not confirmed until the final moto, now Marc Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing TM Moto) is holding the lead of the World Championship standings chased by Thomas Chareyre (SGR Grau Racing) who is trying his best to stand his ground and face the German rider. The French challenger is chasing the dream of taking the victory of the World Championship with another bike and will fight for it till the end. On the other hand, and after the past victories of the GP of Germany, Schmidt will be looking forward to holding the trophy in front of his home crowd.
Behind the duo, there will be Julen Avila Cortes (KTM Mtr Racing) winner in Poland of the first GP of his career after riding in the category for a year now. So, the rider who is leading the Rookie standings, will try to reach another success and in Germany fans will have the chance to see his riding style on a city circuit. The rider managed by Franco Mollo will have to face Elia Sammartin, unlucky in Poland, but the two riders are expected to be the protagonists of a battle worthy to be seen since they had a collision at the Italian Championship round and the Italian rider will try to take revenge.
The Junior class will have a record number of riders enrolled in this appointment with the European Championship since there will be 24 riders at the start. Will Andrea Benvenuti (KTM Mtr Racing) be the rider to defeat once again? Nathan Terraneo (KTM) was very fast in the fast laps of the previous GPs and if he becomes more constant also in the race will give Benvenuti a hard time. Let’s not forget about the Ukrainian rider Yevsevii Kovalyov, always fast in every circuit. The first three riders of the European Championship standings will have to battle it out with a pack of local riders who are very fast and tough.
