FIM SUPERMOTO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TRAVELS FOR THE FIRST TIME TO SLOMCZYN TRACK

Slomczyn  (Poland), 18 July 2024 – It is almost time for the fourth appointment with the Supermoto World Championship season and for the first time the venue is going to be the track of Slomczyn, in Poland, just 30 minutes away from Warsaw. The racetrack of the small Polish town was renewed to host the fourth Grand Prix. The off-road section underwent a major renovation  to assure a thrilling racing weekend.

The GP of Piemonte hosted an epic battle where at the end the World Championship standings leader had changed. After a poor start of the season, German Marc Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing TM Moto) showed his determination and speed and won all he could have achieved; Superpole and the three motos. Courtesy of these results he was back at the top of the standings with the red plate on his TM450.

At the Italian round Thomas Chareyre (SGR Grau Racing) did not seem in perfect line with his Honda. After two impressive races where he grabbed a solid victory, in Busca the multiple-time World Champion had to defend himself from the TM rider and the other rivals. Now with a nine-point gap we will surely see him battling it out on an even level. Excellent performance for Elia Sammartin (Gazza Racing), the Italian rider with his new bike and team seems now mature to challenge top riders. After taking third place in Sardinia, Elia was second in Busca with a storming performance, and we will soon see him battling it out for the victory. Third qualified in Busca, the surprise of the season, Julen Avila Cortes (KTM MTR Racing) is proving to be competitive even on tracks new to him. The young Spanish rider is also the leader of the Rookie standings.

Poland will also welcome the young riders of the Junior European Championship, defending champion Andrea Benvenuti (MTR Ktm Racing) proved he can win after starting from the front and leaving rivals behind but also working his way up from the bottom of the pack. With a very smooth and profitable riding style, the Italian rider will surely have a bright future ahead and his team will have to hold on to him. Behind him there will be talented Ukrainian  Yevsevii Kovalyov and, in third place, Swiss Nathan Terraneo.
