Slomczyn-20 July – It was an intense day of sports at the GP of Poland. The qualifying and race1 were featured by high heat and many unexpected events. Marc Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing TM Moto) won the first race of the weekend with a solid margin and increased his advantage in the standings, Elia Sammartin (Gazza Racing) took the first pole position of his career.
Time practice & Superpole S1GP
There was an initial twist after a few minutes from the start of the time practice, when Thomas Chareyre (SGR Grau Racing) was left on foot in the off-road section because of a technical problem with his bike. The rider had to push it to the pit-lane and the team had to work on it very quickly to allow him to get back on track. In the final minutes the rider set the third best time. Marc Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing TM Moto) started again from where he left at the GP of Piemonte and set the best time in the time practice. Excellent second place for Elia Sammartin (Gazza Racing). The top six was rounded off by Czech Milan Sitniansky (Honda), Tim Slazai (Team 11) and Julen Avila Cortes (KTM Mtr Racing), who will take part in the battle for the Superpole. French Steve Bonnal (Team 11) was left out as he did not find the right feeling with the Polish track.
The battle for the Superpole, for the pole position and the desired Metzeler price, was among the top three riders of the World Championship standings. The first one to get to the track was Thomas Chareyre, who improved his time of almost eight tenths of a second and took the lead. Elia Sammartin did something impressive with a very solid time which Marc Reiner Schmidt could not overtake. For the Italian rider it was the very first pole position taken in his career in the S1GP World Championship. The best rookie rider was French Tim Slazai, in front of Avila Cortes.

Race One
As the red lights went off Elia Sammartin stretched away and took the lead in the first corner chased by Thomas Chareyre. Marc Reiner Schmidt could not make the best out of his position in the starting grid and had to feel happy with third place. In the first lap Schmidt found a way to overtake Chareyre and chase Sammartin who had a small margin on rivals. There was another twist in the second lap when the Italian rider slowed down because of a flat tyre and had to stop at the pit lane. Marc Reiner Schmidt had the green light and thanks to a solid race pace strengthened his advantage and led the race in the final laps. Thomas Chareyre was overtaken by the German rider and lost one spot in favor of Milan Sitniasky. It took several laps to the multiple time World Champion before he could recover the position he previously lost but Schmidt was far. Julen Avila Cortes was once again the best Rookie rider. After battling it out to overtake Sitniansky and clinch the third place overall, Julen could not make it in his attempt.
