Pleven (Bulgaria), 15 July 2023 – Burning asphalt which was over 50° and a temperature of 40° featured this fervent racing day where S1GP riders did not spare themselves and offered a thrilling show! Marc Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing Tm Factory) won the first moto after a close battle with Lukas Hollbacher (MTR Ktm Racing).
Time practice & Superpole S1GP (Report)
As in the previous races, also in today’s qualifying the battle was among three riders, with the fastest being Lukas Hollbacher (MTR Ktm Racing) who held off Thomas Chareyre (TC4R1 Racing). German Marc Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing Tm Factory) set the third time despite choosing not to use new tyres and instead saved them for the superpole. In the group of the six riders who can access the challenge, there were also Milan Sitniancky (Honda), Andreas Buschberger (Husqvarna) and Elia Sammartin (L30 Racing Tm Factory).
Marc Reiner Schmidt’s performance in the battle for the superpole was perfect considering the fact that the German rider is new in Pleven so he could not have done any better and was separated from Lukas Hollbacher by 4 tenths of a second. Third place went to Thomas Chareyre, who made too many mistakes. Elia Sammartin improved his result and qualified fifth.

Race One:
As the red lights blinked off, Thomas Chareyre pulled away to take the lead at the first corner but Schmidt and Hollbacher worked their way up in the first lap and stretched away thanks to a solid race pace. Schmidt seemed to be faster than his rival and opened a small gap over Hollbacher, but the Ktm rider did not give up and in the final laps tried to put pressure on the German rider. Hollbacher completed a late assault in the final laps where there was a contact with Schmidt, but both remained on track. The final laps seemed to be intense, but Hollbacher slipped in the first part of the sky section and gave the green light to Schmidt. Thomas Chareyre crossed the finish line in third.
In the Rookie, series leader Steve Bonnal crashed in the second lap and could not battle it out for the first victory of the season which went to Tim Slazai.
